"Niclas Füllkrug will only officially become an AC Milan player on Friday, and later the same day he could become an instant hero. As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall, Füllkrug has never scored a debut goal for a new club, whether during his many spells in Germany or his last, disappointing spell at West Ham. Milan, however, need him immediately."
"Massimiliano Allegri also made this clear yesterday in his press conference, on the eve of the trip to Cagliari: "Leao can start, then I have to watch Pulisic. Füllkrug will be on the bench. Maybe I'll break up the game a bit." The hero against Verona - Christopher Nkunku - will be out in Cagliari due to ankle pain. Christian Pulisic left with the squad last night but is a serious doubt. Thus, Leao will likely partner Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a second striker."
Niclas Füllkrug will officially become an AC Milan player on Friday and could be available to play the same day. A FIGC regulation change permits players registered on the day the transfer window opens to appear immediately, changing an earlier plan for a January 8 debut. Milan expect no international registration problems despite usual federation bureaucracy. Rafael Leao is fit to start after a layoff since December 8, while Christopher Nkunku is out with ankle pain and Christian Pulisic is doubtful. Allegri plans to use Füllkrug from the bench and likely pair Leao with Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Matteo Gabbia is back for the bench, Youssouf Fofana returns to the starting lineup, and Strahinja Pavlovic will play despite a fever. A win in Cagliari could place Milan temporarily at the top of the table.
