Official: AC Milan announce Mike Maignan has renewed his contract until 2030
"AC Milan is pleased to announce the renewal of Mike Maignan's contract until June 30, 2031. Arriving in the Rossoneri in the summer of 2021, Mike immediately established himself as one of the reference points of the group, distinguishing himself for leadership, reliability and spirit of sacrifice, until he became Captain and central figure of the team. A constant growth that has also led him to become a pillar of the French national team."
"With the Rossoneri jersey, Maignan has collected 188 appearances and was among the protagonists of the conquest of the Scudetto in the 2021/22 season and the 2024 Italian Super Cup, goals of a personal path built over time with dedication, responsibility and a deep sense of belonging to the Rossoneri colors. On an individual level, he was elected the best goalkeeper in Serie A in the 2021/22 season."
"Maignan's contract has been renewed. After what looked like an impossible situation in the summer, Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare managed to mend the situation in recent months, getting the Frenchman back onboard. At the end of December, Gazzetta dello Sport broke the news about a turning point in the negotiations. The reports before that were all rather pessimistic, but a hefty offer and an improvement on the pitch were enough for Maignan to be convinced."
Mike Maignan signed a contract extension with AC Milan that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2031, with an option for an additional year. Negotiations had been ongoing for months and initially appeared pessimistic before a turning point in late December and improved performances convinced Maignan. Massimiliano Allegri and sporting director Igli Tare helped repair the relationship and secure the goalkeeper's commitment. The deal reportedly includes a base around €5m plus €2m in bonuses. Maignan has 188 appearances for Milan, served as captain, won the 2021/22 Scudetto and the 2024 Italian Super Cup, and was voted Serie A's best goalkeeper in 2021/22.
