"If you purchase a ticket to the tour, you will receive access to gardens and garden related sites, most of them private. On the morning of the tour, you will receive an email with a link to a map identifying all sites on the tour and a little information about each. Or, if you choose, you will be able to pick up a printed map to guide your day."
"Each garden is different. A couple of them are postage-stamp sized and are excellent examples of what is possible in a small space. Others demonstrate the power of terracing to capture views and growing areas. Some are examples of native plantings, while others focus primarily on food production. Our tour includes shade-dappled groves and sunny patios and wind caressed hillsides. But, each garden also has something very special: the fingerprints of the gardener or gardeners who keep it."
A ticket grants access to gardens and garden-related sites, most of them private, in the Portola District of southeast San Francisco. On the morning of the tour, participants receive an email with a link to a map identifying all sites and brief information, or they may pick up a printed map. Gardens range from postage-stamp sized examples of small-space design to terraced landscapes capturing views and growing areas. Some gardens emphasize native plantings while others focus on food production. The tour features shade-dappled groves, sunny patios, and wind-caressed hillsides, each bearing the personal fingerprints of the gardeners. The event raises money for the CCSF Horticultural Department.
