ATM Messina, the municipal public transport operator of Messina, Sicily, has taken delivery of 29 battery-electric buses from Iveco Bus, consisting of eighteen 12-metre and eleven 9.5-metre vehicles. This delivery expands ATM's electric bus fleet to 97 BEVs out of a total 232-unit fleet, which also includes 19 hybrid vehicles and 116 low-emission units. An additional 18 electric buses are expected by June 2026, including 12 articulated vehicles for the Shuttle line and six 8-metre buses. The newly delivered buses will enter service on urban routes across Messina, supporting the operator's fleet renewal programme aimed at reducing average vehicle age and CO2 emissions in the city.
