The 2026 Subaru Trailseeker EV Is Exactly What Subaru Fans Wanted
Briefly

At the New York Auto Show, Subaru unveiled the 2026 Solterra and introduced the new Trailseeker, an electric crossover that surpasses Solterra in every respect. Unlike initial assumptions, the Trailseeker is not a re-badged Toyota C-HR+, but a distinct model sharing a platform with bZ4X and Lexus RZ. Featuring standard all-wheel drive, off-road modes, and a 74.7 kWh battery offering around 260 miles of range, the Trailseeker showcases Subaru's commitment to expanding electric options while maintaining their trademark rugged design.
At this week's New York Auto Show, Subaru is finally delivering in the form of a heavily updated 2026 Solterra and something we didn't have on our bingo cards at all this year. Meet the all-new Subaru Trailseeker, an electric crossover that's a step up from the Solterra in just about every way.
Design-wise, it certainly nails the Subaru aesthetic (and more attractively, I'd argue, than the updated Solterra does). It's long but wagon-y, echoing the success Subaru has had with cars like the Outback, Forester and Ascent.
Subaru equipped the Trailseeker with a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, just like on the new Solterra. Here, it's good for a Subaru-estimated 260 miles of range.
A Subaru spokesperson told InsideEVs that with its 150 kW max charging speeds, it should take the battery from approximately empty to 80% in around 30 minutes.
