After a long negotiation period post-strike, ATU Local 265 union members in Santa Clara County are set to vote on a new contract with the Valley Transportation Authority. The proposed deal includes a 14.5% wage increase over four years and enhances benefits such as dental care and improved workplace policies. Riders have expressed their gratitude for the transit services and their importance in daily life, especially after experiencing the disruption caused by the strike.
"It's great," Daniel Macias said. "I don't drive because of my knee situation, medical. But, if I didn't have the transit, I wouldn't be able to get around as much."
"VTA has made a significantly different proposal this time with a cumulative increase in wages of 14.5% over four years," Hendler Ross said.
