When it arrives, it will bring with it an improved pairing process, enhanced Precision Finding, and detailed battery level reporting. Additionally, it will have a feature called Improved Moving, which will likely let you see its precise location even when it's moving around."

It's unclear whether these new features will make it to the original AirTag through a software update, and if so, which ones. The improved Precision Finding, for what it's worth, may rely on an upgraded UWB chip, so that's probably out of the question for the older AirTag."
