The update introduces a film simulation engine that can apply effects such as grain and halation based on the selected look, while allowing all photo features to be customized or disabled. Five new looks are added alongside Process Zero and Apple’s default processing: Valencia, Rembrandt, Nova, Zephyr, and Chroma Noir. Each look targets different subjects, including landscapes, cityscapes, portraits, and black-and-white imagery. HDR support is included for more highlight and shadow detail. The new Photo Lab editor provides quick switching of film simulations and HDR toggles, plus deeper controls for adjustments like color balance.

Nova: Another look that works best with landscapes, and is "exceptionally colorful, with tight contrast and smooth peachy highlights.""
"All these new looks include HDR support if you want more detail in highlights and shadows. They can also all be edited and tweaked with Halide's new Photo Lab editor. The built-in editor is designed to be approachable. There's a Quick Edit tab if you want to quickly switch film simulations or toggle HDR, along with dedicated sections for making in-depth changes to things like color balance and"
