"Apple was expected to launch the iPhone Air 2 next September alongside the iPhone Fold, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, while the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e would arrive together in spring 2027. However, a new report from The Information today claims that Apple has delayed the next iPhone Air. This is most likely due to the original iPhone Air's lackluster sales, which have recently made Apple scale back orders for the device from its suppliers."
"Apple still has some work to do to figure out a fourth phone that a lot of people would actually want to buy alongside the 'vanilla' iPhone, the Pro, and the Pro Max. Perhaps the iPhone Fold will be that model next year, but the iPhone Air definitely doesn't seem to be that much more successful than the previous failed attempts at filling that fourth seat at the table."
Apple delayed the iPhone Air 2 following lackluster sales of the original iPhone Air and scaled-back supplier orders. Luxshare stopped Air production in October and all Foxconn production is expected to stop at the end of this month. If not cancelled, the iPhone Air 2 will most likely be unveiled alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in spring 2027. The iPhone Air 2 was recently rumored to add a second rear camera. Apple continues to search for a fourth iPhone model that consumers will widely adopt; previous mini and Plus models underperformed. The iPhone Fold remains a candidate to fill the fourth-slot role.
