At WWDC 2025, Apple unveiled a major UI redesign named Liquid Glass and announced that MacOS 26 Tahoe would be the final version for Intel-based Macs. Starting in 2026, only M1 or newer MacBooks will benefit from future updates. The last models to receive MacOS 26 reaffirm the trend of phasing out older technology, with many Intel devices excluded from future support. While Intel Macs will still get security updates for three more years, the timeline for these patches remains unclear as Apple plans to transition fully to newer silicon alternatives.
This year, we saw the introduction of a robust UI redesign called Liquid Glass. But sometimes the most important news comes after the keynote presentation.
According to the official MacOS Tahoe preview page, the 2019 16-inch Mac Pro, 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro, 2020 iMac, and 2020 MacBook Pro will be the last four to receive the new OS.
