Apple Inc. is set to announce a $100 billion investment in expanding its manufacturing operations in the United States. This investment is part of the American Manufacturing Program aimed at boosting high-tech production domestically. The company has committed to a total of $600 billion investment in the U.S. over four years, reflecting a strategic shift in operations influenced by rising tensions with the Trump administration, particularly regarding production in India. The investment aims to counter potential tariffs while supporting the administration's economic nationalism efforts.
"This is a significant acceleration of Apple's plan for more production in the United States," the White House said in a statement. "The president has made it clear - American products should be made in America."
The investment, which significantly expands on Apple's earlier plans, is expected to be part of a new initiative called the American Manufacturing Program, designed to encourage high-tech production and bring more of Apple's supply chain back to U.S. soil.
