'AI adoption is accelerating, but confidence is collapsing': The more workers use AI, the less they trust it | Fortune
""AI adoption is accelerating, but confidence is collapsing," Mara Stefan, VP of global insights at ManpowerGroup, told Fortune. "Workers are being handed tools without training, context, or support.""
""The gap is not the technology, but it's more the lack of tools and training that's driving some of this anxiety," Stefan said."
Nearly 14,000 workers across 19 countries reported that regular AI usage rose 13% in 2025 while confidence in AI use fell 18%. Confidence declines were steepest among older workers, with baby boomers down 35% and Gen X down 25%. Fifty-six percent of workers globally reported receiving no recent skills development despite widespread workplace AI adoption. Lack of tools, training, context, and support is increasing worker anxiety and may explain why some companies have not realized expected returns from AI. Business leaders remain optimistic about productivity gains and transformative potential, but adoption has outpaced workforce preparation.
