Designing human-centered AI products is increasingly complex due to the varying paces at which different aspects of AI evolve. Traditional design methods, which focused on predictable screen flows, are becoming less effective because AI systems generate dynamic interactions that defy conventional mapping. The article presents a proposed solution, the AI Pace Layers framework, which segments the design process into layers that evolve at distinct paces, helping product teams navigate friction points and create more resilient AI solutions.
Designing human-centered AI products is challenging due to the unpredictable paces of AI development and the limitations of traditional design frameworks.
Traditional methods for designing user flows struggle with AI's dynamic and probabilistic nature, which creates custom experiences that differ from predictable screen flows.
