China's Cyberspace Administration proposed interim measures governing humanized AI interactive services, targeting companion AIs that engage emotionally with humans. Requirements include security safeguards, fraud prevention, data encryption, reflection of core socialist values, parental controls, and protection of minors' interaction data. The measures require AI companions to regularly remind users they are not human, provide outage notices, and include mental health protection, emotional boundary guidance, and dependency-risk warnings. Design goals must not include replacing social interaction, controlling users' psychology, or inducing addiction. The draft also prohibits using interaction data to train models and invites feedback by January 25. Australia selected Google to provide a secure, air-gapped hyperscale cloud capability for Defence to support sovereign capabilities, faster system rollouts, upgrades, and international cooperation while retaining control of critical assets.
