OpenAI and Disney signed a three-year licensing agreement allowing Sora to generate short, user-prompted social videos using more than 200 characters and related costumes, props, vehicles and iconic environments from Disney, Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars. Disney will become a major customer, purchasing ChatGPT enterprise licenses for employees, and will make a $1 billion equity investment in OpenAI with warrants to buy additional equity. Sora’s TikTok-like app has seen downloads since launch, and ChatGPT Images will generate images from brief user prompts using the same intellectual property. The agreement excludes talent likenesses and voices.
