"With robotics and AI, this is really the path to abundance for all,"
"People often talk about solving global poverty, or essentially, how do we make everyone have a very high standard of living? I think the only way to do this is AI and robotics."
"Undoubtedly we're going to have to think really carefully about how we soft-land those industries that go away, so some sort of UBI, some sort of life-long learning mechanism as well so people can retrain,"
Elon Musk predicts that within a few decades AI and robotics will proliferate to the point that work becomes optional, robots outnumber humans, and money may become irrelevant. He envisions robots providing healthcare and other services, creating abundance for all. Musk favors a form of universal high income, given unconditionally by governments, building on Sam Altman's universal basic income proposal. Other leaders are considering similar measures as automation disrupts labor markets. UK investment minister Lord Jason Stockwood says the government is weighing universal basic income, reskilling programs, and potential taxation of tech companies to fund payments.
