At the recent I/O developer conference, Google unveiled over two dozen new AI features and models. While CEO Sundar Pichai celebrated the rapid delivery of these innovations, some launches seemed redundant and chaotic. For instance, products like AI Mode and Gemini Live have overlapping functionalities, which could confuse users. Despite this, some tools, such as the AI filmmaking tool Flow and DolphinGemma, showcased distinct capabilities. The diverse offerings challenge Google's vision of a unified AI assistant, raising questions about its strategy amidst a competitive landscape.
Not all the new tools seemed that similar. Google launched an impressive new AI filmmaking tool called Flow, powered by its new model Veo 3.
Launching so many AI products in such a short timeframe is impressive, and it can also feel scatterbrained.
