Meta has announced new video editing capabilities within its AI suite, allowing users to transform short videos using AI prompts that change various elements like costumes and locations. The rollout spans the Meta AI app and the Edits platform, aiming to compete with rivals like Google. The features were developed with creator feedback in mind, providing 50 preset options for 10-second videos. Meta's goal is to encourage creative expression and enhance user engagement across its platforms, with plans for further customization options expected this year.
We built this feature so that everyone can experiment creatively and make fun, interesting videos to share with their friends, family, and followers.
The presets can apply a 'vintage comic book style' to a video, change the lighting in a clip to a rainy day, or swap out a subject's clothing.
Meta said it plans to add more customization options later this year.
With this new feature, the company is taking on rivals like Google that have been steadily adding generative AI video tools to their apps.
