OpenAI and Google Workers File Amicus Brief in Support of Anthropic Against the US Government

Anthropic sued the Department of Defense and federal agencies after being designated a supply-chain risk, which severely restricts its ability to work with military contractors. The designation followed failed negotiations between Anthropic and the Pentagon. More than 30 employees from OpenAI and Google DeepMind filed an amicus brief supporting Anthropic's motion for a temporary restraining order. The signatories, including prominent researchers, argue the Pentagon's decision undermines American innovation and competitiveness in artificial intelligence. They contend the blacklisting introduces unpredictability in the industry and chills professional debate on frontier AI systems. The employees signed in personal capacity, not representing their companies' official positions.
