San Jose awards 4 startups with grants to find solutions, create AI capital in South Bay

San Jose awarded AI incentive grants on August 27 to four local startups selected from nearly 200 applicants. Satlyt received $25,000 to simplify satellite communications using AI. Elythea, Metafoodx and Clika each received $50,000 to develop practical AI-driven solutions. Metafoodx focuses on cutting restaurant and foodservice waste and optimizing operations, including work at Santa Clara University. Mayor Matt Mahan emphasized grant goals of supporting company missions and retaining local talent. Grant recipients described feeling supported, connected and safer in San Jose, viewing the funding as validation and a boost for local AI growth.
