The Peace Corps launched Tech Corps to recruit STEM graduates and professionals with artificial intelligence experience for service in participating host countries. Volunteers will be placed in Peace Corps countries participating in the American AI Exports Program, created last year by executive order from President Trump to bolster U.S. influence in the global AI market. Tech Corps members will apply AI to address agricultural, educational, health, and economic development challenges. Assignments will run 12 to 27 months and include in-person or virtual placements with housing, healthcare, a living stipend, and an overseas volunteer service award. The program will build technical capacity and support AI adoption while strengthening U.S. competitive position.
