ADP payroll data covering millions of workers show AI adoption disproportionately reduced employment for 22–25-year-olds in highly exposed occupations by 13% over the past three years. The most exposed roles include operations managers, accountants and auditors, general managers, software developers, customer service representatives, receptionists, and information clerks. Since late 2022, when ChatGPT was released, employment for more experienced workers in AI-impacted fields has remained steady or grown. In software engineering and customer service, the youngest cohort's employment declines while other age groups continue to grow. Experienced workers benefit from on-the-job knowledge that AI lacks, raising concerns about the future entry-level hiring pipeline.
