Why Carnival's CIO isn't going overboard on generative AI
Briefly

More than 100 generative AI projects have been piloted, with only six in full production to date. The number of tools available is intentionally limited to prevent scattered experiments. An AI governing body meets monthly to allocate capital, monitor pilot progress, and approve broader adoption. Each cruise brand runs its own generative AI strategy and technology roadmap. Employee enablement includes vendor training courses, corporate hackathons, one-on-one coaching, and a centralized AI support team. Deployed use cases include a travel-agent assistant for guest questions and a wine-recommendation tool for servers aimed at improving net promoter scores.

What we wanted to do was not have science experiments everywhere.
