"As a company grows, especially as quickly as xAI, the structure must evolve,"
"This unfortunately required parting ways with some people. We wish them well in future endeavors."
"[Macrohard] is able to do anything on a computer that a computer is able to do,"
"There should be rocket engines fully designed by AI."
xAI published a full 45-minute all-hands meeting video publicly. The video revealed new details about product plans, organizational structure, and operational ties to the X platform. Widespread departures were described as layoffs resulting from a company-wide restructuring during rapid growth, causing loss of significant founding-team members. The organization reorganized into four teams: Grok chatbot (including voice), an app coding system team, the Imagine video generator team, and the Macrohard project team. Macrohard is described as able to perform any computer task up to modeling whole corporations and envisioning AI-designed rocket engines. Reported figures included X crossing $1 billion in subscription annual recurring revenue, Imagine producing 50 million videos per day, and more than 6 billion images.
