A Site-Specific Beach Play "Hole" by the SF Neo-Futurists (Sept. 7-21)
"Set outdoors at the beach, HOLE is a brand new, full-length, site-specific play that revolves around the act of literally digging a large hole in the ground, moving through themes of obsession, identity, community, kindness, and the strange persistence of compulsive digging in pop culture. A play without a fourth wall (or, in fact, any walls), asks the audience: What needs to be done for you to take up the shovel?"
"Named one of "22 San Francisco things everyone must do" by the SF Chronicle for their flagship show The Infinite Wrench, the SF Neo-Futurists have been performing an ever-changing roster of 30 original plays in 60 minutes every Friday and Saturday for twelve years, premiering over 4,000 short plays since their founding in 2013. With , the company expands beyond the microplay format to bring their unique non-illusory aesthetic to the outdoors with a full-length hour-long play."
HOLE is a full-length, site-specific play set outdoors at the beach that centers on the literal act of digging a large hole. The performance examines obsession, identity, community, kindness, and the persistence of compulsive digging in pop culture. The play abandons a fourth wall and calls the audience to participate, asking, What needs to be done for you to take up the shovel? Performers play themselves rather than characters, and the outdoor setting is acknowledged and incorporated into the action. Shows run Sundays, September 7, 14, and 21, 2025, with two performances at 2pm and 5pm; exact location is emailed after ticket purchase. RSVP is required; NOTAFLOF tickets are available via info@sfneofuturists.com.
