"continue to assist artists with advice and visibility, collaborating with other galleries and institutions in supporting their practices"
"Anna Schwartz Projects will present an occasional and dynamic roster of conversations, projects and exhibitions across forms including installation, performance, publishing and music,"
"It will build on the gallery's uncompromising conceptual position and contribution to culture. It will embrace experimental approaches to art practice, but with a program that is entirely project and event based offering a particular experience."
Anna Schwartz Gallery in Melbourne will close this December after four decades and will be replaced next year by Anna Schwartz Projects. The gallery's roster has included Shaun Gladwell, Angelica Mesiti, Marco Fusinato, Chiharu Shiota, Jenny Watson, Callum Morton, Kathy Temin and others. Anna Schwartz will continue to assist artists with advice, visibility and collaborations with galleries and institutions. Anna Schwartz Projects will present an occasional roster of conversations, projects and exhibitions across installation, performance, publishing and music and will embrace experimental, project- and event-based programming. The change responds to a shifting art landscape, including greater attention to design and craft, a rise in artist-run initiatives in informal spaces, and evolving collecting culture.
