"We want to make this the most comprehensive historical survey of Chinese art in the first quarter of the 21st century."
"My subject has, over time, continued to be the relationship between humans and nature—the world of animism. I believe the most important task of art is to restore that original harmony."
Tai Kwun's exhibition Stay Connected: Art and China Since 2008 examines the impact of societal changes on Chinese artists. The first part, Navigating the Cloud, highlights the early internet's influence, while the second part, Supplying the Globe, emphasizes the human labor behind China's manufacturing. Qiu Anxiong's work, showcased at Pearl Lam Projects, explores the relationship between humans and nature through animations and sculptures, aiming to restore harmony in a changing world. His art reflects ecological themes and Daoist philosophy.
