In Rotterdam, a new art museum explores the city's rich history of migration
Briefly

The Fenix Museum of Migration in Rotterdam, opening on May 16, invites visitors to engage with migration art via a unique spiraling staircase called the Tornado. Designed by MAD Architects, this visually striking installation symbolizes the convergence of different migration paths and encourages expanded perspectives on the topic. Rotterdam's rich migration history, shaped by diverse nationalities and past emigrations, highlights both stories of departure and arrival. With exhibitions like 'A,' the museum aims to foster a nuanced discussion on the historical and contemporary implications of migration.
The first art piece is right in the heart of the building and we call it the Tornado: a double-helix staircase, two staircases hanging into each other.
What we hope is that you broaden your view on migration.
A single, unfriendly view of immigration will not dominate debate in a city that has built wealth and diversity over centuries.
It's important to tell stories of farewell, but also arrival.
