STRABAG Kunstforum began in the 1990s in Spittal/Drau and linked corporate activity with contemporary art through an annual prize for emerging artists. The prize started in 1994 as an Austrian competition and expanded in 2009 into the STRABAG Artaward International for European talent. Eligibility covers artists up to 40 years old working in painting and drawing, broadly interpreted, who are citizens of or have resided at least two years in Austria, Germany or Slovenia. The 2026 jury comprises art experts from the participating countries. The award includes a €16,000 main prize, four €8,000 recognition prizes, potential acquisitions for the STRABAG Artcollection, an exhibition opening on June 25, 2026 in Vienna, and an accompanying catalog.
