"The Fetus Show" Surreal Comedy at Flop Fest 2025 (SF)
"Are we just the result of a chaotic collision of cells, or has our journey already begun before we take our first breath? The Fetus Show is an absurd, comedic exploration of birth, our baggage, and the grand cosmic joke of the interwovenness of it all. From conception, to the womb, to our coming to the world, Jessica Farber invites audiences to examine the substance of what we inherit, what we carry, what we find and what we inevitably lose and leave behind."
"Jessica is a visual artist, clown, improviser, and pen to paper type of person. Holding a BFA in painting from West Chester of Pennsylvania, Jess has trained in improv comedy at Finest City Improv, San Diego; where they completed their training and conservatory program from 2015-2017. From 2017-2021 they were a weekly player on one of the theater's house teams, a coach and teacher, and lead a workshop, "Step into the Absurd"."
Created by Jessica Farber and directed by Dan Griffiths, The Fetus Show runs Saturday, October 4 at 5pm and Saturday, October 18 at 6:30pm. The piece uses absurdist comedy and surrealism to examine birth, baggage, and the interwovenness of life from conception through coming to the world. Themes include nature versus nurture, destiny versus chaos, inheritance, loss, and the search for meaning. Photography is by Sloane Kanter and graphic design by Carmen AguilarWedge. Reviews describe the show as a gem with a strange timbre and as not quite what one might expect. Jessica Farber is a visual artist, clown, and improviser trained in painting, improv, and clowning.
