The Atlanta Braves traded for right-hander Hunter Stratton from the Pittsburgh Pirates, sending outfielder Titus Dumitru in return. Stratton has pitched only 2.2 innings across three games with the Pirates this season. To create room on the 40-man roster for Stratton, the Braves transferred left-handed pitcher Chris Sale to the 60-day injured list, as he is recovering from a fractured ribcage sustained on June 19th. Sale is expected to be eligible for return at the end of August. Other MLB updates include injuries to players across different teams.
The Atlanta Braves announced Tuesday that they had acquired right-hander Hunter Stratton from the Pittsburgh Pirates and then optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
In return, the Pirates received outfielder Titus Dumitru. To open up a spot on the 40-man roster, the club moved Chris Sale to the 60-day injured list.
28-year-old Stratton appeared in just three games for the Pirates this season, where he logged 2.2 innings.
As for Sale, the move was not a surprise as he continues to recuperate from a fractured ribcage suffered on June 19th.
