Drake Baldwin returns to lineup as Braves aim to hit .500 mark
Briefly

The Atlanta Braves are grappling with finding a way to effectively integrate both catchers, Drake Baldwin and Sean Murphy, into the lineup regularly. With only one catcher allowed on the field and limited options for DH placement, the team is resorting to rotating between the two. On Tuesday night, Baldwin will be catching and batting fifth against the Nationals, who will have Michael Soroka making his first appearance at Truist Park against the Braves. The overall goal is to boost offensive output while managing player positions effectively.
In a perfect world, the Braves would have an easy solution to getting both Drake Baldwin and Sean Murphy into the lineup on a nightly basis. It would surely help the team's overall offensive production as approach.
But such is life, you can only play one catcher, and short of bumping Marcell Ozuna out of the DH spot (not happening) or sending Baldwin to play left field (which he has never done in his lifetime) it will continue to be a rotating mix of the two catchers.
On Tuesday night, as the Braves go for .500 for the fourth time in two weeks, Baldwin will catch Spencer Schwellenbach and bat fifth.
The Nationals will send the following to the plate in support of Michael Soroka, who will be making his first appearance on an opposing team at Truist Park in his career.
