A 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in eastern Tennessee on Saturday morning, centered near Greenbeck, approximately 30 miles southwest of Knoxville. The earthquake, which had a depth of about 15.5 miles, was notably felt across a wide area, including residents in parts of North and South Carolina, as well as Georgia. Some residents in Atlanta reported their experience of the quake, noting the unusual sensation of having felt an earthquake so far from its epicenter.
"First ever earthquake you could actually feel in Atlanta," one X user posted. "Whole place shook for nearly 10 seconds. Absolutely nuts."
"I'm outside of Atlanta and I could've sworn I felt a slight tremor that shook my house," another posted just after 9 a.m.
