Special education teacher Miss Ellie Hyland was recognized as a hometown hero by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds during the 2025 "Power in the Pines" Open House and Airshow. This honor allowed her to fly in an F-16 Fighting Falcon, where she experienced intense maneuvers, including a force of nine Gs. Following the flight, she integrated lessons about aviation and the military into her classroom, enriching educational experiences for her students aged 14 to 21 at Manchester Regional Day School in New Jersey. She received memorabilia, including a 9G Club pin, to commemorate her flight.
"When Hyland discovered she had been selected, she began incorporating lessons about airplanes and the military into her curriculum."
"She enjoyed a roughly hour-long flight in which she experienced a force of nine Gs, and was awarded a pin for joining the '9G Club'"}],
