Green Bay, Wisconsin, is set to host the NFL Draft for the first time, an event that brought immense excitement to local residents Debbie Jacques and Erin Peterson, who live closest to the draft stage. For nearly two years, they imagined the event occurring right in their front yard, and now, as preparations unfold, they express disbelief and joy at its arrival. With a population of just over 107,000, Green Bay is the NFL's smallest city, making this a notable milestone for the community and its celebrated team, the Packers.
"Watching the construction go up and taking everything in, it's almost overwhelming," said Jacques as she stood in the driveway of her duplex on the northeast corner of Lombardi and Oneida while watching workers construct the stage.
"It has been so long since we put in the initial application to host the draft; now that it's here, it's just hard to believe it's going to be here."
"I know we can pull this off," Peterson said, expressing confidence in the Packers and Green Bay's ability to successfully host the NFL draft.
