Bayern Munich's CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen addressed the team following their elimination from the Champions League by Inter Milan, highlighting both the disappointment of missing the final and the commendable effort put forth by the players. Dreesen acknowledged that while the Champions League was a significant goal, the Bundesliga remains the primary focus. He encouraged the team to maintain their focus, reinforcing the importance of their upcoming league matches, where they currently hold a six-point lead. Dreesen also mentioned the potential for success at the Club World Cup.
It was a difficult night for all of us. We had imagined things differently. We all had the dream and hope of the final at home. We were a team today, we fought, it was nice to see. But we're all sad that we won't be playing the final at home. We had many goals for the season, but that was the biggest goal. A big compliment to the team for having played a great game.
Now we have to look ahead. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that the Champions League is the icing on the cake, but not the cake. The cake is the Bundesliga. We go again with the cake on Saturday.
