Bayern Munich: Top three performers from 4-1 victory over Koln
"On Wednesday night, Bayern Munich visited the RheinEnergieStadion to take on Koln in the second round of this season's DFB-Pokal. Despite a slow start, which saw Bayern trail in a game for the first time this season, when Koln striker Ragnar Ache headed in the game's opening goal, just past the half-hour mark, Die Roten eventually found their footing and registered a 4-1 victory."
"The home team only briefly enjoyed the lead. Five minutes after falling behind, Luis Diaz levelled the score with a tap-in from close range. Two minutes later, Harry Kane made it 2-1 to the visitors with a smart turn and shot from the inside right channel. Koln gave it all they had in the second half, but Harry Kane struck again when he headed home a corner kick midway through the second half to make it 3-1."
"Harry Kane gave another customary outstanding performance with two exceptional goals against Koln. His first goal, which gave Bayern the lead, was absolutely brilliant. After being picked out through the inside right channel, Kane turned on a dime and left his marker on the ground before curling the ball past the keeper into the top far corner with his weaker left foot."
Koln took an early lead when Ragnar Ache headed home just past the half-hour mark, the first time Bayern trailed this season. Five minutes later Luis Diaz levelled with a close-range tap-in. Two minutes after that Harry Kane turned inside the right channel, curled a left-footed shot into the top far corner to put Bayern ahead. Kane added a header from a corner midway through the second half to make it 3-1. Michael Olise finished a sweeping counter-attack with just over fifteen minutes remaining to seal a 4-1 victory. Kane also contributed defensively and nearly provided an assist early in the second half.
