Giulia Gwinn undergoes shoulder surgery, will miss June international break along with Franziska Kett

Giulia Gwinn underwent shoulder surgery after dislocating her shoulder in Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Austria. She continued playing for Bayern Munich for most of the remainder of the season, contributing to an unbeaten Bundesliga run and a Pokal win, including scoring the decisive goal against Union Berlin to secure the league title. She missed a few matches during the season, likely due to pain and workload management. The postponed operation has now taken place, and she will recover with the aim of returning for preseason. She will miss the final round of World Cup qualifiers, including Germany’s home match versus Norway and away match versus Slovakia. Franziska Kett also left the Germany squad due to an undisclosed injury, while Ena Mahmutovic, Linda Dallmann, and Klara Bühl remain, with Bühl set for her first qualifier appearance.

"Gwinn will thus miss the last round of World Cup qualifiers, which start next week. Germany has a home game against Norway in Cologne on the 5th of June, and an away game against Slovakia four days later. A win against Norway, who are currently second in the group, will see Germany qualify for the World Cup. A draw will suffice as long as Germany beat Slovakia."

"Meanwhile, Bayern's Franziska Kett has also dropped out of the Germany squad due to an undisclosed injury. The remaining Bayern players in the national team are Ena Mahmutovic, Linda Dallmann, and Klara Bühl, the latter of whom is set to make her first appearance in this year's World Cup qualifiers."
