A charity whiskey tasting event in Tralee raised €500 for the local Meals on Wheels service. The event, held on May 15, combined storytelling with authentic tastings inspired by different eras of Irish distilling tradition. Guests traveled through time, starting with early references to Aqua Vitae in 14th-century Kilkenny and moving to illicit poitín makers in 19th-century Connemara. The experience concluded with modern-day Kerry craft whiskeys. Highlights included a recreation of historic Aqua Vitae from the Red Book of Ossory, a heritage-style poitín, and Kerry craft whiskeys provided by Portmagee Whiskey, Skellig Six18 Distillery, and Wayward Irish Spirits. Organisers credited community support and local producers for the fundraiser’s success. Meals on Wheels delivers meals and support, runs a laundry service, and provides an annual Christmas Day dinner.
