"We wanted to expand who we are as a brand and company. It's part of the DNA of craft and Bay Area beer, to be this whole experience. That was the premise of Calicraft from the beginning. We looked at beer as the first canvas. You can easily color outside the lines."
"Last year, the brewery's sales increased more than 50% due to growth in chain stores wholesaling its beers, along with the opening of the Walnut Creek bar and a taproom in Davis. In 2024, Calicraft acquired Heretic Brewing after the Fairfield brewery went bankrupt, and turned it into a Calicraft taproom."
Calicraft Brewing Co., founded in 2012 by Blaine Landberg and Thomas Dang Vo, has expanded significantly beyond its original office park brewery location. The company experienced over 50% sales growth last year through wholesale distribution and new locations, including a Davis taproom and a Walnut Creek rooftop cocktail bar that opened in December. In 2024, Calicraft acquired bankrupt Heretic Brewing and converted it into a taproom. The flagship brewery is undergoing major expansion to include a 10,000-square-foot two-story facility with restaurant, distillery, and winery. Landberg, inspired by Sierra Nevada Brewing and family homebrewing traditions, views craft beer as a comprehensive brand experience extending beyond the product itself.
