The Herbivorous Butcher, the first vegan butcher shop in the U.S., experienced significant fire damage on May 13. No injuries occurred, thanks to timely firefighter response. The shop has temporarily closed, intending to relocate some operations to J. Selby's in St. Paul while assessing the damage. Despite the setback, owners Aubry and Kale Walch are optimistic about reopening and have raised over $16,000 in community support. The cause of the fire is under investigation and began in the kitchen ceiling; however, much kitchen equipment remains intact, preserving their unique offerings of vegan meats and cheeses.
