Inside The Boutique Farmhouse Hotel on a Swedish Island You've Never Heard Of
"The saplings that line the driveway are still a long way from the shaded avenue they will one day become, but once you've arrived at the renovated barn that doubles as restaurant and check-in, Sibbjäns' design ambitions come into focus."
"We don't have much of that in Sweden, and you don't have it at all on Gotland. We were bold enough to think that we could make something here."
"With oak beams and sheepskin Little Petra chairs, they emanate Nordic calm, but sharp details - from vintage decor to modern amenities - create a unique atmosphere."
Sibbjäns is launching its first full season, providing an upscale boutique hotel experience on Gotland. The island, known for its abundant sunshine and scenic beauty, is a popular summer destination for Swedes. Co-owners Pontus and Susanna Ronne renovated a 19th-century farm to create a stylish hotel and farm-to-table restaurant. The design features thoughtful details and a calming Nordic aesthetic, aiming to attract a more international clientele to the island's unique offerings.
