Dylan Johnson, a North Carolina cyclist, is unable to compete in the upcoming Unbound Gravel 200 after suffering a fractured tibia from a truck accident. At 29, he faced this setback just weeks after preparing intensively for the race, which he considered a top priority of his season. Additionally, Payson McElveen, another prominent competitor, is also out due to a hip fracture from a previous race. The Life Time Grand Prix series will adjust by adding wildcard spots for substitutes, continuing to adapt to the ongoing injuries within the elite competitor field.
Recovery time is a bit up in the air right now, but a 200-mile race 2 weeks from now is definitely not happening. I won't even be off crutches by then.
Unbound is undoubtedly the biggest priority of my season and I go all in for it. The preparation leading up is unlike any race of the year.
