Tom Pidcock, competing for Q36.5, showcased resilience by following Tadej Pogačar's early attack at Strade Bianche. Although he finished second, subsequent races resulted in mixed results. However, he achieved a commendable third at La Flèche Wallonne, particularly under challenging conditions. With favorable weather expected for Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Pidcock expressed optimism about improving his previous second-place finish. He acknowledges Pogačar's formidable presence in the race but maintains a competitive mindset, emphasizing a desire to win and not settle for second place under any circumstances.
I think it was a good performance for me in the rain. I've just been kind of getting better from every race and I have a good feeling about tomorrow.
We know how incredible he is. I think everyone's outlook on races changed a little bit, you know. We might be dealing with the next Eddy Merckx or whatever.
We're going into the race to try and win. In Strade Bianche, I was certainly fairly close to him ... So I think it's not all over before we start.
Albasini expects the racing at Liège to unfold as it did at La Flèche.
