Petr Vakoc uses Belgian Waffle Ride California as springboard to defend Traka 200 title
Briefly

Petr Vakoč is competing in multiple races in the U.S., including the Belgian Waffle Ride California, as he seeks to defend his Traka 200 title. Following a shift from the WorldTour, he has found success in gravel racing, securing victories in 2023 and finishing strongly in notable events. Vakoč praises The Traka for its diverse terrain and beautiful scenery, contrasting it with Unbound Gravel, where bad luck can be detrimental. His family connections in California facilitate his participation in these events, making his racing schedule easier to manage.
I have two brothers, and both of them live in the US, one is at university at Yale on the East Coast and the other lives in the San Francisco area. For me, that was a no-brainer to come for these races.
What I don't like about Unbound is that there's a very high chance you will be out because of bad luck. At The Traka, there are parts of very fast gravel, some steep climbs, long climbs, some technical stuff, so a mix of different terrains.
