Sigrid Haugset finished Paris-Roubaix with fractured hip after crash with 60km to go
Briefly

Sigrid Ytterhus Haugset made a remarkable debut at the Paris-Roubaix Femmes, finishing despite suffering a hip fracture during a crash. The accident occurred with 59km remaining, and Haugset managed to ride nearly 60km, including 18km of challenging cobblestones, to complete the race. Reflecting on her decision to push through pain, she acknowledged that while continuing was not wise, the competitive spirit drove her to finish. Her determination exemplifies the tenacity of cyclists in one of the toughest women's races.
"In hindsight, it probably wasn't the best idea to continue, but at the same time you don't know how bad the injury is. And it's Roubaix, so I wanted to finish."
"I could feel that I couldn't push normally with my left leg, and I couldn't stand up on the pedals. I did the remainder of the race sitting down with most of the power from the left leg."
