Antiracism Center Closing; Founder Copied Scholar's Work
Briefly

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities will close its Center for Antiracism Research for Health Equity after founder Rachel Hardeman faced plagiarism accusations, particularly from other Black female scholars. Hardeman, who recently resigned from her tenured position, acknowledged her mistakes in an email but denied any wrongdoing, describing the situation as an honest error. The issues arose when Hardeman submitted a proposal where she inadvertently included another scholar's work. The closure signals significant consequences following these allegations during a pivotal time for antiracism research post-George Floyd's murder.
I moved quickly and thoughtlessly in throwing together a proposal... I threw your stuff in thinking I'll edit... failing to do so getting swept into the momentum of a deadline.
She and I were working on very similar things... what was investigated by the university was deemed an honest error.
