An Ayer man, identified as David McPartlan, was arrested for allegedly harassing a Black man and his daughter while they were fishing. McPartlan threw rocks and shouted racial slurs during the confrontation at Lake Shirley. The incident, caught on video, prompted the victim, Sheron Brown, to call the police. Despite rocks hitting the boat, no physical harm was reported. McPartlan claimed he was angry about the proximity of Brown's fishing area but acknowledged that his language was inappropriate. He is scheduled for arraignment in June.
There's no rulebook for when someone's yelling slurs at you and being aggressive, and she's looking at me and I'm looking at him and I'm feeling her.
McPartlan admitted to throwing rocks around the boat and mentioned 'I slipped a word out that maybe I shouldn't have, but I was pissed.'
