"The shortlist for the awards across 19 categories was announced today, featuring established and new writers, as well as poets, journalists, politicians and sports stars. In the Novel of the Year category, Mr O'Connor has been nominated for his latest work The Ghosts of Rome. He is up against seven other nominees including Hugo Hamilton, John Patrick McHugh, Elaine Feeney, Roisín O'Donnell, Wendy Erskine, Garrett Carr and John Banville."
"Mr Varadkar's memoir Speaking My Mind is among the nominees for Biography of the Year. Other nominees range from RTÉ presenter Miriam O'Callaghan to Sarah Corbett Lynch, the daughter Andrew Porter's Heart on My Sleeve is in the running for Sports Book of the Year, alongside books by Ireland rugby head coach Andy Farrell, retired Ireland and Munster scrum-half Conor Murray, and All-Ireland winning Kerry footballer Marc Ó Sé."
