Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad technicians traveled to the island after reports of unexploded military ordnance. Authorities identified the devices as rockets believed to have been used in training exercises. The rockets remained dangerous to the public. Bomb technicians conducted a controlled explosion to neutralize the hazard. After the controlled explosion, the scene was released to local and state officials.
